Before the construction work for the schaumagazin in the KIW neighbourhood: Start at Mittelweg 7; Saturday 19 October 2024 from 5 p.m. into the 9th NIGHT OF KNOWLEDGE at the abandoned ‘Vorwärts’ vehicle repair plant. Experience with us the dynamic process of transformation at the legendary site from a huge workshop for large vehicles to a place of art for creative thinking and action.After years of vacancy as a ‘lost place’, the clear architecture - built between 1955 and 1964 - will be revitalised for contemporary art and its mediation after an intensive construction phase until the end of 2026.
In reports on the architecture, films on the former large company and its employees, a sketch of future work in the schaumagazin and a current artist talk, the exciting place of current transformation can be experienced.
Musician Johannes Larisch will introduce the night and the band Gambola Uxia will close the programme.
