The programme for KULTURNACHT (Culture Night)
Before construction work begins in 2026 on the schaumagazin with its art tower, bistro café, exhibition area, library and creative and restoration studio, this year's focus is on the extraordinary industrial architecture and the work of internationally renowned artist Günther Uecker. His four stained glass windows Lichtbogen (Light Arc) in Schwerin Cathedral were ceremoniously inaugurated before the artist passed away on 10 June 2025. A room in the art tower will be dedicated to Uecker's work. The schaumagazin, as a centre for contemporary art in Schwerin, sees itself as a place where we can view art together and thus perceive art differently. VIEWING, STORING, RESEARCHING, COLLECTING and COMMUNICATING are the guiding principles of the work at the schaumagazin.
